MY BLACK SISTERS AND BROTHERS

MY BLACK SISTERS AND BROTHERS

I cannot stand by and watch and listen to the talking heads talk for my Black Sisters and Brothers.  I have known people in the Black Community for decades.  While I was shocked that Colin Powell voted for and advocated for the election of Barack Obama in 2008, I know what I know.
The Blacks who I know identify more with what was witnessed at Whitney Houston's home going than what the talking heads say.  My friends are God fearing, hard working, and their families are their priorities.  I know people who are stuck in extremely low paying jobs but perform their duties with a smile and with a lot of caring.  One friend who comes to mind works at a very low paying job and cares for her Aunt, who cannot care for herself.  Her Aunt!  I did not say her Mom or her daughter, but her Aunt!
They make do with what they have.  They also share.  If I would ask for anything, they would do what they could to provide.  Of course, our friendship is reciprocated.  The point is that they are not envious.  They may have aspirations of doing better, but they just continue with what they have and do the best they can with it.  They are not lazy and do not complain.
This is why I believe the current political talking heads are wrong.  My friends may have voted for what they thought was a Black President, but they are not stupid, nor are they blind.  I believe they identify more with Rick Santorum than with Barack Obama. Time will tell.
